oh accurate. i misunderstood the premise.

and civil rights activists were trained in desensitization because this moment is better for the movement and its purpose than it would have been if they could validly claim these protesters brutalized the cops. violence in this moment will not be an effective means to an end.

agreed. i think that climate progress naturally follows from the original point. turning our attention from the hopelessness of isolation in the digital age to our material surroundings and community, we will care more for that space and what is impacting it.

your most revolutionary act in this moment is to engage with the people right where you are. build the community you want to live in. plant the seeds of the tree you want to grow. even if you may never sit under its shade.

capitalism, individualism, the nuclear family, post-COVID hyper-digital age, loss of 3rd places… they’ve all made us forget how to be human. our humanity is with each other TANGIBLY. To be in each others energy in each others space.

living in community -> learning others’ subjective experiences and perspectives -> learning how to communicate differences -> learning how to find common ground -> learning how to build a better future ==> INCREASED OVERALL EMPATHY

building community allows us to take the statement i just made and turn it from nihilism into purpose. we must reconnect with our material world. we must build local connection.
