The first game I properly finished this year. Atelier Ryza is a lot of fun. Excellent crafting and exploration loop. Ryza is an excellent protagonist, the rest of the cast are fun too but Ryza is the highlight. Music is great, art and animation is also solid. Looking forward to the sequels!

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
As requested by my friend I read book 2 of the Empyrean series. Yarros is very talented at emotional story writing that doesn’t hold up as much when you think about it further. Good fun although I was surprised at the reduction in action from book 1.

4. The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri
The series finale lived up to its predecessors. Fantastic characters and creative magic with a tough decisions all around for characters I grew to love. Travel time may have been non existent for the characters but otherwise I have few complaints.

This book is YA done really well, fast paced without losing character and world. The characters sometimes do things you don’t agree with for understandable reasons. Looking forward to book 2. Hopefully with more focus on the underworld and how the magic works.

I read the first book Iron Widow when it came out and really enjoyed it. Book 2 is a book 2 in good and bad ways, plenty of set up for book 3 new intriguing dynamics but also slower paced with some plot threads from book 1 left dangling.
