Republicans are confident that they can force Democrats [or at least enough Democrats] to approve the Republican Continuing Resolution (CR) for this simple reason; Democrats care about vulnerable and marginalized Americans living paycheck to paycheck. Republicans don't -- Trump certainly doesn't.

Trump reportedly called Jens Stoltenberg, Norway's finance minister and the former NATO secretary general, in July to ask about the Nobel prize. He’s quoted as saying he should have been awarded it 3 or 4 times already. Did tariffs come up? Who knows?
