In a setting where evil can be personified (humanified?) why not call it demon tainted or something. I think more problems arise when these species are sapient, have societies, and can be played by PCs.

A lower is better system also runs into an issue with zero. If that’s the lowest possible result, you risk making a preponderance of modifiers superfluous. If you can dip into the negatives, I hate to tell you, but you’re playing a roll over game.

A roll-under system also needs to subclassified according to which is the ‘better’ result - rolling as low as possible, or as close to the target as possible. That in turn influences the mechanics used to vary the result, either modifying the roll (lower is better) or the target (higher is better).

Or maybe one is horror, and the other wish fulfillment? From what I've heard the author of your campaign say, it sounded like writing it helped him process some heavy stuff (which I hope helped him). I don't get that feeling at all reading the copy for Rebel Scum.

The ad copy you quote reads as if the game was written explicitly to facilitate imagining punching Republicans in the face. Like you say, your product lacks that disclosure, even if the end result of play is similar. A neutral marketplace participant has to navigate the distinction pretty deftly.
