Candidates should have excellent communication skills across multiple platforms (email, chat, Zoom, in person), strong organizational and administrative capabilities, basic computer skills (Google suite, Microsoft Office suite), and the ability to work independently.

Interns’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining editorial files, researching reference material, managing internal paperwork, utilizing databases and digital resources, reviewing creative materials, maintaining quality control, and proofreading.

Internships are conducted in person two days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their offices in Milwaukie, Oregon.

To qualify for the position, applicants must receive college or university credit for the internship. Interns will be expected to work two 8-hour days per week and keep normal office hours (9-5 p.m.), which include a lunch break. These two work days will be scheduled upon acceptance to the program.

A roundtable of current and graduated Comics Studies students will share their perspectives on what they’ve learned by creating and studying comics as part of the Comics Studies Certificate program.

A Comics Education: Studying Comics in College will be held on Sunday, September 7, from 3:45–4:30 p.m. in room E145–146.

They will examine the role comics art plays in the academy and discuss opportunities for students interested in studying the medium in colleges and universities. The panel will also feature comics theorist Scott McCloud!

An Education in Comics will be held on Saturday, September 6, from 12:15–1:00 p.m. in room E145–146. This roundtable will feature instructors from Portland State University, including Brian Michael Bendis, Jon Holt, Diana Schutz, David Walker, Douglas Wolk, and Susan Kirtley.
