Just a random guy that loves comics.
No, i don't get that, because many of the best tv shows are transcendental.

An absolute titan in both animation and comics. Created key frames. He made animation what we know of as animation. You could read it in Little Nemo as well.

Well, at least one of the major things.

Page layouts are what turns a regular comic into a real memorable comic imo.

There are some creators in alt manga youd probably like where they depict ugly people, e.g Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Ebisu Yoshikazu, etc

I read it, in what context does that make 'all us comics look the same to me' any different?
September 23, 2025 at 4:28 PM
US comics aren't just superheroes, there is a wide variety of styles available.

I don't feel there's that many great writers or stories I care about in that way, and i've always been an art focused person, so ymmv.

I personally feel the opposite, as i'm not looking for an emotional tearjerker, but experimental art that makes me go 'wow, that's insane art, how do you do something like this', but i do like a good mix of both sometimes.

The opening chapter (which has nothing to do with stars) is this 22 page continuous sequence - starting that way has made me very attuned to the spread, wasn’t my intent, but almost all the pages of the book since take advantage of spreads - not sure I can break that habit!

Nonscientific poll: would folks be interested in the opening chapter to #Nostos in standalone accordion format, w/bonus behind the scenes, process stuff included before the book is finished (it’d be printed there as well in standard book format)? Hoping to finally make this happen! #Unflattening 2

How in the world is this going to be printed? This is insanity. It just won't hit the same as a page turn.

It's a great book! Check out Yotsuba as well, if you haven't. A slice of life classic.

I want the hardcovers, but the softcovers might make a good reading experience for a comic like this. I will have to think about it haha. It is half the price of the HCs after all. Thanks!

@davekellett.bsky.social how long does the sale for the books last? I don't have the money atm (and likely won't for another month or so)
