It was only discovered due to a performance issue. If the backdoor was better optimized, it would definitely have made it into almost every distro. So there could be others already. Open source software is not more secure than closed source software.

Super Mario 64 DS and Pokémon Red & Blue were re-rated from 3+ to 12+ when they were re-released on the Wii U and 3DS. Today they would be re-rated 18+. All just so can PEGI can poorly pretend they're opposing gambling while actually promoting it over legitimate games.

As long as cheats can run in the kernel, anti-cheats need to run in the kernel too. So, blame Windows (and theoretically Linux) for making kernel-level cheats possible in the first place.
