One cubic meter ain't shit in this throwaway culture. Inorganic rubbish collection used to be a real one, now... well, it's pretty clear to me why illegal dumping is a huge problem...

The seasonal references might be entirely inappropriate for the tropics, and the capitalist fever dream that is the festive season is so problematic, but at least his skin colour is right...

Still agitated about the brazen erasure of Ōtara in the Local Board swearing in of the newest, most inexperienced members last night. But today is a full moon, and the moon is in Taurus, so this bull will let go of this bullSHIT and start strategising and dreaming of alternative realities.

Our very articulate former Chair Apulu Reece Autagavaia was emotional during his swearing in, expressing his apologies to Ōtara for failing the community in the process of Ōtara leadership being completely decimated by Papatoetoe Action. His family lifted him up with their voices and presence.

A fucking shit show! Ōtara representatives are being completely blocked from leadership of the the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board by a new bloc of 100% inexperienced, single-issue representatives from Papatoetoe. They vote tonight at their first Board meeting and this is going to be fucking messy.

My daughter thought my genderised hand cream was for tough ladies and by using it, their tight angry fists got a bit softer and looser. She was amazed it was just kind of flowery smelling lotion for ppl with dry hands lol

My hands do smell and feel, as Mary J. Blige would say, ‘so lady’ 😎

I was in wānanga with rongoā practitioners Donna Kerridge & Emma Haslam yesterday on connecting to te taiao through a Māori lens, and it was sooo good and sooo inspiring, and just what I needed. Facilitated also by the excellent crew at Māngere Mountain Education Centre, it was a PRIMO day.

Speaking to my bro in Qatar about how much it means when @tepaatimaori.bsky.social show UP in Parliament, how their actions expose the deep-seated coloniality of so many of the institutions that have NEVER historically accommodated for Indigenous communities. Globally relevant power moves MUCH. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Mum just repatriated an oil painting I made in 2001 called “Phallus Palace” that has been missing for 20 years! Unfortunately it’s a bit fucked but somehow, some way, we will be reunited! I can’t wait to see this big angry work I made when I was an 18 year old baby feminist Suva gyal!

Any New Zealander who doesn’t see a problem with this requires a in-depth cultural literacy education. Pākehā domination is not acceptable anymore. The voices of diversity in this country are no longer something Pākehā systems can suppress. To see the face of Pākehā domination in 2025 is chilling.

Surveying an Ōtara stream reach today and amongst banks of illegally dumped rubbish, two political hoardings stuck, unable to be carried by the water, paint a depressing picture in a ward with one of the lowest levels of civic democratic engagement. Also spotted eels, magical energy-lifters!

Thinking about trees that were planted in Ōtara before it became an urban development, from when it was largely rural, before the state houses and highways. These huge trees, behind garden fences, lining the creeks, have seen it all.

Benjy Kusi does a great job explaining why seeing the Green Party’s Chloe Swarbrick in discussion with English economist/influencer, Gary Stephenson, actually articulates and exacerbates her Whiteness & White Privilege, which is visible in her leadership & track record, for those who can see / care.

Happy Bornday @tanugago.bsky.social // 15 years ago we were trying to hustle n heal, be artists + party hard, scraping up coins for liquor and cigarettes, dreaming and trying to get free. And we live to tell the tale! Loved you since day one, xxx

P.S I think you need to start writing your memoir.

Out in Ōtara today learning about pest control, bait & trapping, suppression over elimination strategies & feeling grateful for these new perspectives of the place I’ve lived for over two decades.

These little pockets of the Ōtara catchment, almost 200km of open stream, are such a joy to discover.
