The disaster comes in the Age of Absolutism, when all over the Cannor you see a rise of the "Might makes Right" philosophy applied to magic. What could the de facto opressed group of powerful individuals do, if not revolt against the state that does not want to cooperate with them. Mages in Pashaine tree are not simply "not important". Their structural ommision is the cornerstone of their revolt. Mages are not "missing" from the narrative - they are scraped out of it. This is an example of a deliberate ommision. How often were you doing agendas for the Mages? How many privileges have you given to them, compared to other estates etc. Mages revolt because from their perspective, it's Pashainé that doesn't give a fuck about correctly running a state."
