You forget how racist the vast majority of Republicans are.

Companies that need tariffs dropped, companies that need funding from the DoE or DoD, companies that need to beat out their competitors for government contracts on terms other than competence, price, and quality. Oh, and criminals who need pardons.

That's why we've always, in the past, insisted on an independent DOJ and houses of congress. But Republicans don't WANT a Democracy, they want dictatorship. So they appointed people who were willing to subvert those traditions. They see the Russian Duma as a model. Whatever Putin wants, Putin gets.

They don't care about anyone in Trump country. They assume, with some historical evidence, that people in Trump country will still vote for Republcans as long as he's reliably anti-Trans and anti-immigrant.

You would also need to get Mike Johnson to put it on the calendar. And he is Trump's slavishly obedient servant, and I can't imagine him allowing a veto over-ride vote unless his hand is forced.

I am SO glad that I don't live in a rural part of this country, with a Republican party determined to destroy the small towns, farms, and ranches. I feel for you, and wish I could help. Vote blue. Despite what you hear from Fox News, Democrats have actually always cared more about you.

The main thing is that the gullible president of the United States will believe the Russians, and won't even ASK his national intelligence personnel whether it's true. Because he loves and believes in Vladimir Putin and doesn't want his fantasy romance undermined by the sordid truth.

Reagan was governor of CA when the mental institutions were closed. Just last year, as my Lyft passed a homeless encampment in S.F., the driver referred to them as “Reagan’s Army.”

During his entire “golden age,” our borders were basically wide open.

A normal adult, instead of filing a million-dollar lawsuit, would have checked their contract to see what the legal remedy is that they signed their name to. These conservative brats work outside the established rules, make preposterous demands in court, and cry "bullying" when they fail.

I'm sure the acceptable reasons for cancelling the gig, as well as the allowable penalties, are specified in their contract. But suing for a MILLION DOLLARS! makes it so much more of a righteous impotent conservative rage thing, which is all that matters to these losers.

Who was it who signed that law? Maybe that guy is such a weak president he can't even fulfill his basic constitutional obligation to enforce the law.
December 26, 2025 at 11:06 PM
I remember when he was running for president, there was a story about how he'd given each of his sons $100 million dollars in a tax-free transfer. And I thought "that sounds illegal, and if it isn't illegal, it sure as hell should be."

He said that the murders were acceptable.

Sure, I fly all the time. I'm a professional musician. I've never had trouble with the TSA--always polite and as efficient as possible. The true evil in American "policing" are customs agents, ICE, many big city police unions, and Border Patrol. But I understand that you don't have an incident.

When my kids were at the appropriate age, they read the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Excellent, whimsical writing, and memorable lines, but clearly the author had no idea where it was going... which proved to be true. I've heard that the TV series improved on that.

How so? Got an incident?

Time to fire Dr. Meissner, I guess. Can't have science in a Republican HHS.
December 5, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Lemme guess: he‘ll release them in two weeks?

It’ll stay in the Saudi’s pockets. Every foreign government knows that Trump is infinitely gullible. Remember how China told him they were going to buy soybeans again?

Please no one tell them about L. Frank Baum's "Ozma of Oz."

Not until 2029 at the earliest. And by then there will be no qualified people left in government and academia for people of good character to pick up the pieces and put them back together. We can at least make him weaker earlier in his term.

I suspect that when the contents of the Epstein files come to light, some Republican senators will have finally had enough.

As several people have pointed out, making an issue of whether it's illegal to accept gifts from Qatar raises at least 747 questions for the Trump administration...
