Inspired by the Clive Barker in my feed. So I went looking. Can't find my Great and Secret Show, which is a bit concerning...but I did find this, speaking of Cabal.
(This is the Poseidon press/Simon and schuster edition from 88. Portions of it were published before that in Britain in 85 too).

Lol. Yeah ok. How about the fact that most households don't bother with good sound systems for their tvs, using TV audio speakers made as cheap as possible. Which leads to not turning it up to a reasonable volume cuz it sounds like ass.
The solution is to tend to your TV audio properly.
