thinking book bans are simply about books is an incredibly shallow view of them. book bans threaten our culture, knowledge, history, identity, safety, and free speech. not only that but its a threat to literacy and literacy is critical to educating ourselves so we can fight back

We've all got our list of publishing trends that need to die in 2025. For me, near the top is ambiguously described men of color in fantasy romance—and the constant cycle of white women arguing about them online.

Got to give a major shout-out to The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo! I sobbed all through the night when I read this as a teen, and it hasn’t left my mind since. It is a MUST READ, especially if you’re a fan of slam poetry. Also, the audiobook (brought to life by the author herself) is chefs kiss 🩷
