It’s a geographical point. By far the most densely populated part of the isles is the land closest to continental Europe.

It mostly looks like England’s population exploded as a result of the Industrial Revolution, which would make sense given that it is the nation closest to mainland Europe.

Last year I tapped the guy who sat next to me in the office and showed him my computer screen. It was a webpage covered in funeral plans and coffins. I said to him - a man in his thirties - that this is what the internet looks like when you hit your forties. ⚰️💀
