Definitely spittlebug but might it be the case that froth is toxic? Or is it just a coincidence that fly decided to expire in it. Probably the latter, I'd wager, but maybe the plant juices (source of froth, to some degree?) are toxic.

Per the iNaturalist Forum the outage might be at the cloud level. Apparently Microsoft Azure had failures yesterday. iNaturalist staff are aware of issue and are looking into it. "https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/inat-just-went-down/72137
