So grateful for the amazing members of the Francis lab, @colinmast.bsky.social @lilianvallet.bsky.social, Ashley Zwick and Subham Banerjee (not pictured here)! So much creativity, quantitative thinking, and geospatial fire science data wizardry. Working with these folks is the best.

Excited to share my MS research! We used the LANDIS-II model to explore how landscape planning can balance wood demand, biodiversity, and carbon storage in a changing climate.

Huge thanks to @mattbetts42.bsky.social, @melissalucash.bsky.social, and Neil Williams for all their help along the way!
Increased demand for wood, in combination with climate change and fires, pose serious challenges for biodiversity and carbon storage. Which landscape planning strategies minimize negative impacts? New paper by @colinmast.bsky.social! 🧪https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10980-024-02041-5

Great article on a well-taught course by @jameslamping.bsky.social. The course gave students hands-on experience, not only with drones, but also with geographic analysis and research design. Working with James and students from a wide range of majors (geography, ENVS, journalism, etc.) was a blast!
A few terms ago I was given the opportunity to teach the Mapping with Drones course at @uoregon.bsky.social! The students in the class were driven and they all blew me away with the effort they put into the course. We taught survey methods, RTK GPS systems, lidar processing, multispectral, etc.

The TEEL lab is presenting some amazing research at AGU next week. Come chat with us about forest ecosystem models and climate change!!!
Excited to attend #AGU2023 with the grad students in my lab!
