It would be interesting to know whether the wood has been carbon-dated, to show whether it is truly contemporaneous with the rest of the site.

That's a useful guide; I think I've broken at least three of the rules so far! In particular, I find it hard to cut decent keystone tesserae from 10mm glass tiles and instead only cut one of the diagonals
