Prunella Scales has died almost exactly a year after her husband Timothy West. This interview from 2023 shows the love they had over their 60 year marriage and how they refused to let her dementia stop them having a lot of fun.

Week off post Glasto and while cleaning my garage found my first interview with Oasis from Oct 94.
I was an exchange student at @penn in Philadelphia, writing for the student paper @dailypenn’s arts section @34ST

Saw them play a pub that night. Was deaf for a week.

My favourite things to do whilst cooking: set Pretty Random app to 1-500, give it a shake and play which ever album in Rolling Stones’ Top 500 albums comes up. Tonight 497: The Indestructible Beat of Soweto. It is basically Graceland the year before it was out. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

Music question: in Miami on holiday. For a huge city is would appear to seriously under-punch on music history.

Best acts from Miami please?

I have ended up listening to (and thoroughly enjoying) KC and The Sunshine Band’s Greatest Hits. 5 US number ones! (But not Give It Up).

Just had my most cringe Dad moment for a long time. Asked my boys why on earth they were talking about 1980s cricketer Mike Gatting. They weren’t. Turns out “My gyatting” is a buzz phrase at their schools. They now know more about Shakoor Rana than they did 5 minutes ago.

I’m just back from The Oscars: a few thoughts.
1) Every acting prize went to a leading role. Kieran Culkin was actually on screen for a higher percentage of his film (65%), than Adrien Brody (60%).

This was possibly my favourite moment of the year. I was broadcasting live from Glastonbury, when 5 year old Elske grabbed my microphone as she had an announcement to make.

“Toby Ogden” - I hope you have a fantastic 2025.

Remarkable viewing figures for the Gavin & Stacey finale: 12.3 million.

Five years ago the overnight audience was 11.6 million, growing to a 28 day figure of 18.4 million (with those catching up on iPlayer etc).

Paul McCartney in Manchester tonight was simply magnificent. To hear that back catalogue being sung with such utter enthusiasm by someone who is 82, was staggering.

I wasn’t expecting my first post on BlueSky to be about Che Adams, but his winner for Torino last night, away to Empoli, is surely Serie A’s goal of the season. Scots are all over that league.
