The games I played in 2025
FFVII was my goat for the longest time, but nothing else in the series had the same staying power.
Whereas with Persona I've played every mainline title and P3R is currently my favorite game of all time. So this video is pure ecstasy.

I'm totally normal about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
So much has been said about Clair Obscur's combat and story this past year. Upon playing the game, I actually found myself disagreeing with most of what I heard.
Which is to say I think Clair Obscur is an original and profound work that is worth experiencing and forming your own opinion on.

Just finished Clair Obscur. My opinion on the ending is radically changing with each interpretation I read
I ultimately think the storytellers did what they did to deliver an emotional gut punch, undermining much of the game's themes, but it is fascinating
A better game than FFXV and XVI at least

Expedition 33 is great, but the picto system is ass.
Tedious to change loadouts as you pick up new ones (there's a lot), lack of filter options (please add sorting for unmastered and lumina cost), and at times obtuse (equipping a picto auto unequips the lumina, annoying if you're experimenting).

I'm so happy we got Nier Replicant v1.22 in our hands before last year's restructuring within Square Enix (which reportedly canceled a bunch of internal projects).
Amazing remaster of an amazing game. I even love the warts. Yes I will happily replay the second half three times for Ending D.

Arke Rebalance just passed 30,000 downloads. It was my goal to reach this number by the end of the year. Kinda wild.
When I launched the mod, I had no clue what interest there would be, if any. I was hoping for 100, maybe 1000 downloads. Then it just kept snowballing

German, Italian, and Japanese language support has been added to Arke Rebalance. That brings the total number of supported languages to 5 out of the game's 13. Looong road ahead.

Realizing that the only new game from 2025 I've completed is Dynasty Warriors Origins, so it wins my Game of the Year by default.
If we open it up to "games new to me in 2025", then 1000xResist wins. Still, replaying old games has taken up most of my time this year.

And with that, I have finally completed all canonical Metal Gear games. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake was the only one I was missing.
I was a huge fan of the series 10 years ago. Then I backed away after MGSV. Decided I wasn't a big Kojima fan! Now, feels good to come back and reclaim the memories.
