Teacher person looking for other teacher people to help make it all make sense. I also enjoy wisconsin sports and sarcasm. Views are my own.
I love that book. It’s on permanent display in my classroom. Great tattoo!

Oh gosh can I relate. I switched schools and that helped some but teaching/motherhood/womanhood is so this. Everything looks great and you’re “so good at it” but there’s nothing left of you for you. I have no good advice just solidarity.

That is a great poem. Sad but true.

My dad is a huge Hendrix fan and when I was a kid I was convinced he said “excuse me while I kiss this guy” 🥴

Thanks for sharing! As a kid my older brothers watched Jaws with me way too little to be watching and it began a life long obsession with sharks particularly great whites. It’s been awesome to see how much has been learned in the last 20 or so years.

Oh bummer. That’s about as exciting as I’ve got. 🤣 I will say I’ve found some creators on tik tok who have great ideas and tips for kids with dyslexia. I work in a state where “we don’t recognize” it as a specific disability. Like somehow kids just stop being dyslexic then.

I have seen people use pop its sort of like moving a chip for sound boxes. I’ve also seen people use little balls of playdoh and you squish it for each sound you hear. The child then goes back and sees how many sounds the work has, then assigns letters to those sounds.

Beyoncé is the “current” singer I keep coming back to time after time. I think part of the problem is obviously the auto tune stuff but also everything has become a “package” deal. People sing, dance, act, model, sell make up, etc. and they aren’t necessarily great at any one thing just mediocre.

After 16 years teaching in one school I started at a new school. Though change felt scary I needed it and am happy I took the leap.

I had a fair amount of loan forgiveness for working in “certain schools” but I look at these young people and have no clue how they’re going to pay that off.

This is so sad. I use Sesame Street often in my classroom and it’s still very relevant and engaging to kids.

I read it when with
My 2nd grade class when it first came out and they were completely sucked in. I read it with many classes after and my own children. Went to see it with my kids and though it isn’t exactly the book it definitely hit the mark. Reading it right now with my current class.

In theory yes. I’d argue in the US (at least my corner of it) many including myself don’t celebrate in that way. I think if our economy wasn’t completely dependent on the consumerism of Christmas it might look way different.

My 2nd grader will be sooo happy! He has reread ALL of the others over and over.

I was just looking at this book with one of my students in the library on Tuesday. Didn’t realize it was written by you. 👍 we had a good giggle. 😂
