“There was no way to predict this” says only country in the world where Donald Trump was already President once.

If you want to know how that worked out for Lincoln, look up Cow Island.
I know we can’t run around on fire every time Trump says something but he appears to have just announced the new US policy on Gaza which is to take ownership of it, ethnically cleanse it of the 1.8 million Palestinians there and maintain a long term ownership stake as it’s “developed.”

Too many people didn't appreciate just how wonderful, how glorious, it was that the daily news cycle during Biden's presidency was boring as fuck.

Exactly. Whatever your views on our nation’s priorities, you should see this kind of flagrant disregard for the legal process laid out in our Constitution (before the amendments, even!) as an existential threat to the stability of our nation and our society.
My instinct is to make the case that USAID is extremely good, actually. But I feel like it’s more important to say, “What is happening is antagonistic to the foundational document of the nation.”

This is a great question for all of congress to think about.

Hypothetically,If FEMA goes away, what happens to home owners and other insurance rates ?

Climate change looks like it will make rates so high, home insurers will want equity in your house as a way of holding down rates
I wonder how much the dissolution of FEMA and cancellation of flooding infrastructure programs is going to increase insurance premiums?

Especially as the population ages, inflation spikes, and a large % of housing stock is used as short term rentals in high risk areas.

The Road’s cinematic version was also better than the book. More spare and restrained but still devastating.
I’m not a very visual person, and neither are a lot of people. Also, I can actually think of several movies that are better than the books.

Fight Club and American Psycho, just for starters.
Books are ALWAYS better than the movies, especially fantasy movies. The visual always pales in comparison to my minds eye.

Haha, oh well! It’s not like eggs are one of like three safe foods my food averse kid will eat, lol.
The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

* Currently paused by Executive Order
** Grant reviews now all canceled

Egg prices are soaring again. Here’s why and what to expect
Bird flu has killed millions of hens in recent weeks, shrinking the supply of eggs and hiking up prices at grocery stores.

The plan was always to flood the zone with shit.

Not everyone can respond to every outrage. That's on purpose. But no need to get mad at someone for focusing on stuff *you* don't think is important. Let everyone focus on what they want to focus on.
