i truly think this discourse is coming from a place of being so used to the old games. i mean, it HAS been 6 years. anything new is gonna look slightly off or take some time to grow on you. i really like the new siren(?) though :)

-uninteresting vault hunters that ended up blending into the story the best. literally nothing about his design is eye-catching, and nobody had anything to say about him. i think BL2 is honestly the only example i can give that has flashy playables. why are we less concerned it’s gonna be bad??

-if they continue the series and use them again (which they’ve always done), they don’t stand out too much against the rest of the cast and still blend in stylistically. borderlands was never a flashy game despite what people think, i think mordecai is the best example of the historically-
