The core foundational idea behind racism and white supremacy is a myth. It is not true. So building or maintaining a hierarchy based on race as if it was granted to them by God or nature or evolution or whatever is indefensible. Racism is wrong because it maintains a great lie that hurts people.

It had been understood within Christianity that pillaging and slavery were wrong, especially to other Christians. The myth of race allowed them to reconcile their actions with the mores of their society and religion. It was a way of citing the holy gospel of "thing I was going to do regardless"
