Well that or Macarena.

Is Love Shack pure kitsch? Of course! Everyone knows that. But Roam is RIGHT THERE.

Utah’s Republican state legislature would rather set the Capitol building on fire than allow Dems to seat 2 reps.

Omg, if we had “state of the realm” in the original it wouldn’t have taken me *years* to fully understand the plot…

It’s been such a joy to replay! Excellent graphics and UI overhaul, a beautiful codex of game info, great QoL updates, and the core gameplay is still faithful to the original. I was a huge fan of the original in ‘98 and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

The proposition for this passed SEVEN YEARS AGO. They’ve been fighting this implementation ever since! Unbelievable arrogance.

Utah Dems: the state is 40% democrat, so instead of 4 red districts and 0 blue districts, how about 1 blue district and 3 red districts?

Utah Republicans: HOW FUCKING DARE YOU

Also true.

My take is that the Smiths inspired all of them and were better than any of them.

It's a real shame Moz is such a dickhead.

I agree with you about U2 personally but I can't bring myself to deny that War, Joshua Tree, Achtung, and ATYCLB were all massive successes.

I freaking love Talking Heads and I think you're right that they're more influential today, but I think they never reached the global saturation of REM or U2.

Respectfully disagree! Give 'Em Enough Rope is underrated if anything. Safe European Home is a banger and as incisive a critique of Western politics as anything on Combat Rock.

Interesting! I don't think I've ever heard someone with that opinion before. I guess I'm due for a re-listen deep dive.

100% cosigned. R.E.M.'s only real peer in terms of longevity, creative range and cultural influence is U2. And if U2 had called it quits in 2010, they'd probably have a much better rep now.

Also, where do I sign up to participate in this kind of discourse every single day?

The Sex Pistols were Important, but not Great.
The Clash were both Important and Great.

I'm not gonna deny how massively influential the Pistols are, but if I'm chilling I'm throwing on London Calling over Never Mind every single time.
