Less affluent neighborhoods still have lifts with real operators/magewrights that run them either full-time or only at certain times of the day. Of course there are a few lifts not being run at all either due to the expense of running them or simply not enough traffic.

Lifts in affluent neighborhoods are semi-automous having been outfitted with modified golem parts from Cannith that were made obsolete when they began producing warforged.

I say almost because I'm sure the Dropout writing team could give it a little bit more.

So far just have the DMG open to skill check difficulties to match with the appropriate Draw Steel Test difficulty. And make sure you read up on object durability since forced movement is more likely to break the environment than in 5E.
