Lighthouse in a fogged-up world.

Futures(?) of democracy & discourse

Climate's changing, billionaires are taking over, and we all have a brain the size of a walnut.
Your response was polite, considerate and informative, and landed on deaf ears.

One more drawback to the "knock on every door" idea is that every so many doors, one opens and you get sucked in to a vortex of disorder.

Best to you, and to Dr. Andrews.

"No good deed goes unpunished."

FWIW, neither Birch Bayh nor Evan Bayh ever ran for a US House seat, where an "every door" strategy (~300K doors) is still unrealistic.

Birch Bayh's 1954 Indiana lege race - 20K doors? More plausible.

For a state the size of South Carolina, that's about 2 million doors. Over 3 doors a minute, every minute of every day, from now to election day 2026.

Yes, that is as Kafkaesque as it seems; the BIA is saying that a child adjudicated to be abused, abandoned, and neglected, who has already been approved for a status that will permit the child to get a green card, should nonetheless be deported instead — because of backlogs outside of their control.

But surely there will be an affirmative "reliance on LLM advice" defense.

Which our increasingly LLM-dependent Inquisitors' LLMs will be prone to accept.

For "flare-up", read "recurrence".

Fetterman has presumably "died" (experienced v-fib) and been defibbed before, accounting for his current regimen of medication and implanted pacemaker/defibrillator.

Release of the remaining Epstein files - like restoration of Obamacare funds - won't be easy for any elected official to vote down on the record.

Easier to arrange a quiet procedural death, or tack on poison pill amendments (which Ds misguided fervor might help attach).

This could be Seahawks toughest Rams game of three ... and toughest game of the season overall (including a Superbowl).

Not a squeaker now, and probably out of automatic recount territory by the end of the week.

Baseless, and clearly suggestive of longstanding antisemitic mythos.

Oh, you sweet summer child ...

Note also, AIPAC did not donate to any candidates prior to late 2021 (when they formed a PAC, and later a SuperPAC).

Suggestions that public officials are owned and controlled by AIPAC are generally inaccurate, and at least circumstantially suggestive of antisemitic mythos.

Corporations may not donate to the **official campaign** of any (federal) candidate BUT they can make unlimited "independent expenditures" to support or oppose such candidates.

Also, IE's cannot lawfully coordinate with campaigns - but enforcement is lacking

I understand "the deal" includes a (Senate) vote on an ACA measure drafted by Democrats.

Those skilled in the art will note that legislative details can create especially difficult votes for particular vulnerable opponents (who will hear more from constituents over the next month as well).

Video? Capsule summaries unsettling -- if these are the questions and these are the answers, is the outlook hopeful or doomful?

Yes, but Seattle starts out well to the left of NYC.

Can confirm - having done similar in primaries, general elections and hand recounts.

Context: Seattle social-ish-ist mayoral candidate Katie Wilson is now 91 votes ahead of business-police-finance-friendly incumbent Bruce Harrell, after a premature Decision Desk HQ decision last week.

?? "Twenty-four senators demand a new caucus leader?" ??

Is this reported/leaked/rumored anywhere substantial?

To whatever extent I've ever said anything good about Sen. Kaine (and I have) those statements are no longer operative.

We are quite sure it's NOT real - in fact it's a ripoff of a ripoff of an Onion piece.
