Current online version of your article does not mention tapes or refutation from Mr. Whipple that you apparently heard for yourself.
But earlier this morning it did. Why the change?

curious, though, that the following passage, which appeared in the early online version of the NYT article, has now been altered or revised, and doesn't clearly reveal the refutation by Mr. Whipple. What gives? WH yells at Peter Baker, "fix that or else"?
