I am so glad that this devastating description of the total scumbag being discussed was not directed at me. Yowch!

From the Facebook group “why are men,” which is always humbling reading.

It made me think ruefully of this apt meme:

Caramel and Sully love their fleecy blanket too!

PS. This is the more horrible image taken during the surgery two weeks ago, which I had neglected to post here. Look at all them screws!

I saw the surgeon on Thursday to check on my broken arm, so here is a less horrible view of the plate that has been implanted to align the ulna.

Things are going well. I have a removable cast now that I can take off for showers, and I can use my arm for typing/light tasks. Roughly 4 weeks to go!

Caramel and Sully were waiting for me on my bed while I was at the hospital last week for the surgery on my broken arm.

It was so lovely of my best friend @melaniel.bsky.social to take it and send it to me!

Hey Ontario, I voted today despite all of my many glaring faults and deficiencies, so you have absolutely NO excuse.

“Did not vote” won by a landslide last time, and look at the lousy government that got us. So give a hoot and vote!

Hooray, I’m useful!

On the way home late last night, I was at this intersection when two cars tried to beat the yellow light and collided head-on. The front of the smaller car was annihilated and it filled with smoke as it gushed fluids. Fortunately both drivers were okay and police and firefighters arrived swiftly.

There will be a tendency in days ahead for people to keep their heads down amidst rising fascism and open, gleeful acts of hatred and greed.

One day, everyone will say that they were always opposed to the cruelty and evil of these times. Our job is to be the people who stood up and fought back.

Watson’s Mill (1860) in Manotick, Ontario, still a working flour mill. I lived in Manotick as a child and I have always been fascinated by how the mill (which seems very spooky at night) is purportedly haunted by the spirit of a young bride who died in a tragic accident there during a tour in 1861.

Acts of kindness, patience, respect, and active communication are not weaknesses, but anything less is.

Someone I care about and admire deeply said essentially this to me the other day, and I am brokenhearted. I am doing what I can to keep going despite grief and triggered abandonment panic.

Today’s plan is to get up and row the tears away at my gym.

It’s a horrible world full of real atrocities that are weighing me down so much with grief and anger, but handing out candy on my favourite holiday still did me good.

Happy Hallowe’en, gang, may we all stop being monsters to each other soon.

Spotted in the wild. And yes, I agree wholeheartedly!

A portrait of two cats: Caramel, snoozing peacefully in a sunbeam like the angel from heaven that he is. And Sully, surveying the carnage of the cat toy that he just destroyed.
