And yet, read another way, it literally identifies Senator van Hollen as "The Savior".

Not as deep a sick burn as Collins seems to think it is.

Could I recommend Linux mint instead? If you’re coming from windows, I think it would be an easier transition. Mint comes out of the box pretty ready to use without a lot of messing around.

Hey, admittedly, if you’re happy on windows don’t let me yuck your yum! If you do however want suggestions for a “windows-like” desktop, Mint is amazing! It’s super “Linux Noob” friendly! Alternatively (and more advanced to set up) Debian with KDE Plasma is my favorite way to use Linux!

I think most of us who started using Linux see how nice it is and want to save y’all. Windows 11 is, in my opinion, near vista levels of jank and a privacy nightmare. It’s like getting out of a cult and wanting to rescue others.

What programs do you need? Desktop or laptop?

Honestly, most of the “AI bros” strike me as finance bros who got a job in tech.

I gotcha, I didn’t intend to push it down your throat or anything. I just know some people tried Linux years ago and think it’s still an OS where you have to CLI everything. I understand your use case now and completely get why you use windows. I think it was a bit of miscommunication between us.

Why are you having to dig into CLI on install? What error are you getting?
February 23, 2025 at 5:23 AM
Damn if that ain’t the truth.

I get what you are saying. “Windows just runs shit” I have gotten it since the beginning. Honestly, just made that comment to be nice and recommend a low “mess with alternative” alternative not knowing your use case. Don’t jump down my throat for trying to offer a good distro that is easy to use.

I get the point of your comment, Linux can be a pain in the ass and, at the worst of times, feel like a second IT job. I have nothing against people using windows if it works for them. You didn’t mention your need to run ancient software. Personally, I just find Windows to be an unorganized mess.

Running Linux requires very little knowledge of programming. Don’t get me wrong, knowing how to program scripts lets you do some cool stuff but it’s not necessary.

I mean, I barely ever have to do anything to my machine running Mint. Highly recommend if windows becomes too annoying for you.

Thanks for all of your hard work putting these together every week!

Oh thank god

That’s really cool!

Honestly, I couldn’t have gotten into self hosting at a better time! (Could have picked a better time to get into IT.)

Please, take this seriously. I was a nurse during COVID. I zipped up too many body bags. Many of them were convinced it was a hoax too. It gave me so much trauma I had to leave nursing.
