I will say, you definitely need American marshmallows for this. Australian marshmallows are starchy and have a squish, but a relatively “firm” outer shell that doesn’t melt well. I’ve made it with American marshmallows from Costco which are made with corn syrup and they’re sooo gooey and sweet.
