In my opinion, Mahatma Gandhi's assassination ranks up there with the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Julius Caesar, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and Abraham Lincoln. It was impactful in terms of the ramifications of it. How widely known and loved Gandhi was around the world.

Photo by hello aesthe on Pexels.com This 1968 film is one I've never seen before, though I am familiar with Stanley Kubrick's work with The Shining, another amazing movie that I might review sometime. Perhaps around Halloween season. But back to this movie... It was directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick, who also co-wrote it with Arthur C. Clarke. The plot is a combination of two short stories written by Clarke in 1951 and 1953 respectively.

Upon the death of Leo I (Leo II's maternal grandfather), Leo II became the rightful emperor, but given that he was only 7 at the time, Ariadne (his mother) and Verina (his maternal grandmother) agreed that Zeno was the best possible candidate to co-rule with Leo II.

I'm not entirely sure what my dad was doing when he was 35. But I know it must have been around that time that he and his first wife got divorced. I dunno, and it's just not something that we've discussed in depth.

Daily writing prompt Do you need a break? From what? View all responses At this point in time, I really need a break from winter. I'm so done with the cold, snow and ice. It stopped being useful after I graduated high school. It shut everything down, and whoever was brave enough to go out in the storm cleared out half of the grocery side of Walmart. So I just need a break. A week of spring-like temperatures and weather would be nice. Spring cannot get here fast enough, in my opinion.

My favorite candy has to be any kind of Ferrero Rocher... Hands down. As I alluded, there hasn't been a flavor that they've made, that I haven't liked. I don't get to have them very often, because they are slightly on the expensive side. But I do enjoy it when I can get it.

There's nothing more valuable than that, in my opinion. To have the ability to look back at a situation and be able to see that I may have been misguided in my way of thinking. And it's okay to have been misguided. It is then my responsibility to correct it. And I take my responsibility very seriously.

I can't remember if my parents bought it for me or if it was the one that I won from my elementary school after a contest. But I clearly remember the desk top monitor and the CPU. It was just a standard white desk top but it was mine. I remember playing Rodent's Revenge and Chip's Challenge on it. Social media wasn't a thing back then. Man, those were the days.

I hate it and I'd move somewhere warmer, if I could. But generally speaking, I complain about there not being enough hours in the day to get everything I need or want to get done. Daily writing prompt Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven't got around to visiting. View all responses Babcock State Park is about an hour away from me, yet we haven't been there. It's a beautiful park with an old Grist Mill, as well as water falls nearby. Fun??? What is fun these days? I can't remember the last time I had fun, just kidding. Most of what I do is fun for me. I'm generally easy to please when it comes to that. The five things I do for fun are: Writing Researching topics on the interwebs Reading books Watching TV/movies Getting out of the house Now that I'm looking at the list though, getting out of the house feels like it's slowly climbing the list.

I'm hesitant to even write this post because I don't wanna commit to something that I can't follow through with, for whatever reason. But I'm thinking of and planning on more frequent blog posts starting in February. I'm hoping to post five days a week, starting February 2nd. Firstly, I would like to apologize for not posting yesterday. Between errands, doing dishes, and an unexpected (yet easily fixed) plumbing issue under the kitchen sink, the day got away from me. Moving on to the question... What makes a good leader? I think the ability to collaborate. That would be my overall pick. Though the ability to listen and being fair are also top contenders.

Clutter is becoming the bane of my existence, much like doing the laundry already is. But at the moment, I'm hoping to get the clutter out of my house as much as possible. The next room to tackle is the attic, which used to be my room. Boxes from when we moved in and old stuff in the back room that was never used.

I think right now I would like some hummus and pretzel thins. I tried it for the first time about a year or so ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. Since then I've tried other flavors of hummus. There aren't many flavors that I haven't liked. So I definitely wouldn't mind eating that right now.

Long lives generally tend to run in my family. My dad's dad lived into his early-90s, my mom's parents lived well into their 90s. My maternal grandmother's mother (my great-grandmother) lived into her 100s. I think she was 104 when she died. So to me, it's not entirely foreign. I hope I can make it that far. And when I think about all of them, I think about the life they lived. The history they witnessed firsthand. I can only hope to be able to pass down history to my future children and grandchildren.

As the title says: Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I hope you'll be having a great time at the parties you go to, or if you choose to do something more low-key at home. Dad and I will be spending the evening at home, I think. It's a bit too cold to be out and about, I believe. What do you have planned for the evening? A party or a low-key thing? I hope you have an amazing evening with friends and family, whatever you may be doing. 🙂

My days are spent now looking towards the future. I'm in a place that looking back, while it does happen on the bad days, doesn't help at all. But now, I have too much to look forward to. Too many plans set in motion that I don't have the time or energy to look back, if I can help it. But in the immediate future, it is time for dinner. A very thrown together Shepherd's Pie. Yum 🙂

It's my highest love language. I just love spending time with people I love. There's nothing more valuable than that to me. It doesn't matter what we're doing, it could be literally anything. Even watching sports. Which is a whole other topic with my lack of understanding of any sport on the planet. Being able to spend time with my loved ones is time well spent to me.
