I am late on this, but it is very good. KeiyaA: Forever, Ya Girl. Like Autre ne Veut meets D'Angelo under a Burial shroud.

Soul Connection: Rough & Ready. 1988, Intrigue Records. A bit of a grail record for me. Still on the lookout for their other one. UK street soul, spare, quantized, and sincere. The kind of thing that Erlend Øye must have been going for on his first solo album. #SoulConnection #UKstreetsoul

I wanna go back to the 70s, when jazz musicians frolicked in the green fields & madding verdant gestalt. Genius trumpeter Hino is backed by an American band with bass maestro Ron Carter, drummer Tony Williams, and guitarist John Scofield. A little inside, but with funky modal energy & BIG drums.

Picked this up over the holidays. This and Street Lady are probably my favorite Mizell Brothers-produced Byrd collaborations. #DonaldByrd #jazz

Wonderful first-time-on-vinyl reissue of this missed off-ramp to a dreamier and more beautiful today, the death of the dream, maximalist indie-rock days, 1998. Antarctica: 23:03, out on Solid Brass Records.

I put this very clean $1 copy of Afterburner on the turntable today, and the overlap of synthesizers, beatboxes, and hot licks that once seemed commonplace now sounds completely left field to my ears. How did they pull this off?

Jim Carroll called it.

A Holy Grail item for me just arrived in the mail. This is a minimal wave masterpiece from Hideki Matsutake, assistant to Isao Tomita and programmer for YMO. As cold as outer space.

Pardon the glare on this, but the energy here is buoying whether or not the image is partially whited out.
