OMG, the lense fell off my cardboard hand spectroscope, so I took it home to glue again. And while playing around to check everything, I found the best line spectrum example I have ever seen with this little thing 😄

It's been a while since i've posted, sorry 😑
Spring semester kinda ran away from me... besides all the usual stuff, i also had one module that we did for the first time after a curriculum reform, and another one that i joined where i have not taught that particular content before 😅

Turning the current on, the compass needles create a circular pattern. This demo gives students a literal feeling for the magnetic field created by moving charges, since they can pick up the tiny compass needles, and feel the effect when they move it around or vary the distance to the current.

I started electromagnetism in one of my classes.
This experiment is not all too "jaw-dropping-impressive", but has proven very effective. I start out with the current off to just discuss magnets, compass needles, and magnetic vs geographic poles.

Ohh! Yes!!! My students tend to get very ambitious and creative with the playground version 🤣

Here we go, my third go-around for the autumn semester! Looking forward to a bunch of new first years, one module with a class of second years, and I get to see one of my first ever classes again in their third year, as a guest during the semester 🤗

And it worked!
Since the radio sound can't be "seen" in the picture, I took a photo of the oscilloscope with the 1MHz oscillation nicely displayed.
The radio signal can only be heard at (very) close distance, and with lots of static noise, but the song was recogniseable 😂

Did some last-minute prep for a workshop this coming week 📱📡📻🎶
If all goes well, the students should be able to build their own amplitude modulation radio transmitter 🙏

Today is a prep day for the upcoming Science Week,

where we'll entertain teenagers on campus with various full-day-programs. Our team is offering Arduinos with sensor input and motor control 🤗💡

Today's practical demonstration (and hands-on experience for the students was my yoyo from "back when I was in school..." 😅
I'm hoping this will be a more memorable way of conceptualising the centripetal force 🤞

scholargoggler.com created this word cloud from my google scholar profile 🤗
So I guess this is my official introduction here, hello everyone 👋🧪⚛️
Though since summer 2022 I have been doing a lot more teaching 🎢 than research
