His presence nowadays has only grown thanks to the Smash speculation scene. Maybe not his own game but an appearance in a future rpg game could be possible if they ever follow up on the remake of Super Mario RPG

It’s an RPG. For the Mario RPGs, they’ve always had button commands so you can get extra damage on attacks, and even to block or outright negate damage done. In the Mario & Luigi games, it’s done as a dodging and counter attack system on top of that.
