MARTY SUPREME is messy and ridiculous, but gloriously so (just like our main character). Timmy zooms through the epic film's chaos with a focus and drive that's both hilarious and unsettling. Gwyneth is captivating. LOVED the period-inappropriate synth score. It's all so very Safdie.

I can’t stop thinking about Tinsman Road. A very scary, very sad, very very effective horror movie. Actually left me shaking. Put it on your watchlist, find a local screening, do whatever you gotta do to see it.

The stage version of Paranormal Activity is actually way better and scarier than it has any right to be 👻

Referenced this queen to a group last night. Nobody knew what I meant. Showed the picture. Nobody recognized her. Is this what it feels like to be shunned from God’s light?

To watch One Battle After Another in a theater is to experience a monumental new piece of art in real time. Historic, huge, & really unexpectedly powerful. PTA directs at a huge scale that still feels tactile & ground-level. Amazing performances all around. I laughed, I cried...it exceeds the hype.

IN THE HAND OF DANTE is sprawling, ambitious, messy, unintentionally funny, and totally compelling. It's not captivating for the right reasons, but I did love the gorgeous cinematography & stunning performance(s) from Oscar Isaac. Gerard Butler good? But then there's Gal Gadot...

AMMAZZARE STANCA (or Tired of Killing) is a portrait of a mafia hitman reassessing his lot in life, told in as unexciting a way as a crime thriller could possibly be. Overlong and monotonous, the concrete shoe pacing really drags this thing down. Decent performances.

François Ozon's THE STRANGER is a beautifully shot adaptation of Camus' novel that fails to find a sense of purpose for nearly half its runtime...which is purposeful. Its examination of an emotionless young man makes its point, even if it's not the most captivating watch.

Was pleasantly surprised by MARC BY SOFIA, a documentary about Jacobs by Coppola. Affectionate and invigorating, Coppola's archival, collage-style filmmaking pairs well with Jacobs' reference-heavy descriptions of his own work. Sometimes it's nice to look at beautiful things.
