Alt text is a great way to help those who access Bsky using a screen reader or need written descriptions. Alt text can be used on images and gifs, but currently not on videos.
Alt text should contain a description of the image. For screenshots of text, a copy of the text is a good idea.

Blocking
You can mute or block a user by accessing their profile, clicking the three dot menu in the top of the page, and selecting “mute account” or “block account” from the menu.

Muting words
Bsky allows you to mute words that appear in both text and tags, or just tags.
You can mute these words indefinitely, or for 1, 7 or 30 days (helpful for avoiding spoilers!)

To see works from creators who post in a different language, you will need to enable other languages on your feeds.
Settings > languages > content languages.
You may either select the languages of the content you want to see or deselect all to see all languages.

When you first join, you have to tweak your content filters if you wish to see NSFW.
Settings > moderation > content filters.
To toggle adult content on, adjust the slider from disabled to enabled. Then, you may choose how to view this content – “show”, “warn” or “hide”.

Explaining the algorithm
Bsky does not have “an algorithm” like Twitter, but it does have feeds with algorithms built in, such as the Discover feed.
You can choose what you want to see however by pinning custom feeds, or see posts chronologically from the people you follow (following feed).
