Yet another student in the field of CS.
Welp, it's not even in the tech field but I landed a job today. Funds are necessary no matter the source

I've been running Debian with KDE for years now. Suggestions welcome

Maybe I need to try something other than Debian but the last thing I want is bloat. Besides I've always felt anything using Apt is simply Debian with more packages

I am perpetually torn between Windows and Linux.
Windows pros: I'm lazy. I like to play games and especially those ones with kernel level anti cheat
Windows cons: It's Windows
Linux pros: I like it. Developing on it is better.
Linux cons: I keep having network issues with it on my laptop

There was once a time I would grumble with annoyance when I wanted to look for a niche program and I'd get redirected to GitHub, gone are those days. I recalled this gem of a post and my past self can almost relate

I've taken quite the long break after the end of the semester and I haven't touched code at all. I'm still fairly burnt out but I'm going to revamp some old projects.

Since I built my PC I finally got around to making my laptop into a Linux machine again. Opted for Debian Trixie because why not and I have missed the power of the Linux terminal, wsl just can't compare

It's so hard to get good photos of food sometimes. Anyway here's dinner!

I learned recently that in Windows 11 there is no native way to change the icon for an executable. The options are to install a third party program or create a shortcut and edit the icon for that which isn't a fix. It took like 3 clicks in Debian.. Windows it's my machine, stop getting in my way

So update;

Current build project for class is making pong in Vircon32 Assembly and another program I need to think of based on the book.
Windows trying to be the admin of my system over me

I've been put on a block list for interacting with accounts that either "follow a metric ton of people" or "engage in platform manipulation tactic" 😂

People are crazy.

The semester is over, I have no idea what to do with my free time or at least what to start first
- Backup data and switch my main laptop to Debian and potato debian laptop to a mini server
- Organize notes in Obsidian/Notion
- Explore Neovim plugins
- Binge anime

It is officially finals week! The last hurdle before the long rest.

Tonight's dinner; chicken katsu curry sandwiches with the leftover chicken used for nuggets and the remainding curry for dipping with a side of pan fried green beans

Aside from going to school to be a software dev I also like to cook! I think I'll start sharing any worthwhile foods I make

Rest it is as I can't focus. Which isn't anything new but congestion amplifies it.
November 30, 2024 at 7:45 PM
Debating to spend today relaxing and recovering from the week. Travelling has gotten me congested and weary but school work deadlines just continue to look ever closer.

I'm curious how people's workstations look. I have a lot planned for improving mine in the future but at the moment this is what I currently have

Hot take, many mmo-esque games have an auto-route feature and most mobile games, an auto-battle feature. I'd like to remove them or at the very least not have those as the default as it honestly feels like I'm not even playing a game.

For my Discrete class some of the projects are the same or slightly changed such as using 3 discrete structures rather than 3 data structures. Other projects are to create a long division generator with randomized divisor, dividend and quotient with a certain length and to always have a remainder.
November 25, 2024 at 5:10 AM
Here's some of the final projects for my Data Structures class:

0x0 - Build a new game (new opposed to any built during the semester) utilizing a minimum of 3 data structures. Preferably with sound effects and music
0x1 - Base 15, hard difficulty letter division puzzle
