I’ve been that one doctor in the ER both in the US and Canada countless times and it sucks for everyone involved. Fortunately, we had a few docs join our group recently so it’s getting better. My goal on here is not completely unselfish. I need more colleagues.

1) Talk about it. Talk to your aging family members who still think there’s a system to catch them when they fall. Know someone important? Talk to them. Treat it like it’s your problem because it’s everyone’s problem now.
2) Support the B.C. HPOA. Game changer in terms of physician regulation.

Appreciate the sentiment but like all the bullies who run the world now, because everyone in power hasn’t the spine to stand up to utter bullshit, this is deeply engrained in doctor culture. This is the most blatantly ignored form of unprofessional conduct. Hopefully come April 2026 it will change.

The answer is right in front of you. It’s the doctor cartel. I sure as hell never experienced the “Golden age of medicine” nor was I invited to any anointed aristocracy doctors think they inhabit. They fucked us. They fucked you. They fucked me, they fucked every single taxpayer in North America.

There are a lot of books written about Nazi Germany that are helpful. I’m not being pedantic but this very recent and very well documented era seems to get overlooked as an emotional security blanket. No one can know for sure… but the parallels are there for all to see.
