Spent today hooking up barks into my random encounter system. Enemies launch different barks based on their or the player's HP + how many time's you've lost or won against them.

The exact parameters are to be determined, but it should be pretty flexible :)

Spent today implementing a new random battle system for my game. Got 7 placehodler enemies that I can trigger based on the player's location on the map. I'm also tracking how many times you've beaten them and will progress their stories accordingly.

Today I got my card collection system working. With that, all of the core gameplay loops SHOULD be done (god willing), and for the rest of the year, I can focus on expanding the content. But of course, there will still be some patching up to do for sure.

Been working on some UI and tutorial flow stuff this week. Got caught in the quagmire of optimising the backend code for a couple of days though, before admitting that it'll just have to be the mess it is for now :D

!FLASHING LIGHTS IN VIDEO!

Had an amazing time seeing Miracle of Sound live yesterday! They covered pretty much all my favorites! Nearly 15 years I waited and dreamt of seeing those songs live. Through struggle, studies, and work, whenever I needed inspiration or motivation, they were there for me.

This week, I created a very simple random event system for my game's world map.

Whenever the player crosses a pathfinding node, the system makes a roll, and on success, picks one from the list of conversations that have been marked as an event.

This week, I gave the cards in my game purpose outside of battle! You can use the songs you collect to affect the environment and the characters you encounter. More of a proof of concept, really.

This week, I built a combo system! It's pretty simple for now, just doubling the corresponding DMG if you played a majority of a single card color. Will make it more robust later :)

I also added sounds to the battle scene!

Spent the weekend further customizing gamevanilla's CCG kit. I added music, swapped the background, enemy model (with animations), and the card sprites.

This week, I'll start working on the combo system.

During the last 2 weeks, I began modifying GameVanilla's Card Game System asset, inverting the HP-system so that instead of chopping down HP, you build up cumulative status effects!

Is it fun? Don't know, but it's a start!

This week, I finished another prototype scene for my #solodev project! This is an in-game location which includes a character you can have conversations with. The player can also move around to discover puzzles and other interactable content.
