Imagine waking up to this derpy face on a lazy rainy Saturday morning. Definitely makes you smile. She is so cuddly and loves to snuggle. #MomentOfGratitude #skydogs

Sunday #MomentOfGratitude is appreciating this chaos gremlin for who she is. Very good at reminding her mom when it's time for a work break. #PetPhotography

When I was a kid playing The Sims on CD-rom on our family computer, I would get so annoyed when a sim would tell me they didn't want to do something then wander aimlessly from room to room crying. As an adult, I now see it's the most relatable aspect of a video game ever made. #TheSims #Adulting

Parashrasing McWhorter on Colbert
JMW: English is weird with 'you' for singular and plural.
Colbert: in the South we have a y'all/all y'all
JMW: "buts that's not allowed, its still considered slang...It will never be in the Wall Street Journal."
Colbert: "OH NO!"

I'm not one for processed food products but I'm feeling too overwhelmed to make cookies from scratch. These aren't grandma-level good but a hot cookie from the oven is hard to beat. Bonus: they're eat or bake meaning you can also scarf them raw #pillsbury

🐦🐦 🚨 Come spend a month in lovely Oregon this summer, while learning cool linguistics stuff at the #LSAInstitute2025. The theme this year is "Language in Use" (my fav topic). I'm co-teaching an intro course on the linguistics of signed languages with @ryanlepic.bsky.social. Love to see you there!

Happy to get this month's issue of @wired.com in the mail today. Kudos on their cover layout. Really captures the ethos. Articles have a great mix of well-researched investigative reporting, healthy skepticism, and a sprinkle of snark.

Happy SuperbOwl Day to those who celebrate. I present to you the superb burrowing owl, one of my favorites. The photo is from the Houston Zoo, many years ago, in my former life.
