Two pieces today! A barrel and three kegs, I believe? Very nice! #miniatures

Ah, they finally arrived. My first boxes of #miniatures that aren't either preassembled or simply snap together.

Looking to make some Angus McBride style orcs with the Goblins set.

Unfortunately, the plastic cement I ordered to assemble these is still in transit! 😅

I gotta be honest, I expected half of the days to be cardboard tokens. But hot dang, the furniture keeps coming.

I believe this is a brazier.

Wondering what the most logical paint scheme here will be. Gold body, black coals, and then trying to drybrush the coals with some kind of orange? 🤔

Very strong showing again on day 5! I really like this sculpt.

Only noticed the mold line on the picture, seems like it should be easy to remove. Looking forward to painting the whole party after Christmas. #adventcalendar #miniatures

Day 4 brings us a little bench! There's a scuffed mark on one side, which I assume will be fine once painted. Though I'm not sure whether it's worth painting these if they'll end up brown. Maybe a darker wash upon a brown basecoat would be nice though. #adventcalendar #miniatures

On day 3 we're getting cardboard tokens, which is understandable, given the affordable price and the concept of this being a boardgame.

If I understand the plan correctly, does this mean there's a great view from the "great room family room" into the ceiling glass door elevation?

They're really starting out strong!

Day 2 brings me the first of 6 miniatures, namely a goblin bouncer wearing shades.

I wonder if they'd work as visors or goggles for a tinkerer.🤔

It's December 1st, so I can open the 1st day of the Mantic Barroom Brawl #adventcalendar.

It seems to be the bar. Real nice! The plastic color means it can be used as-is. 2nd picture has a space marine for scale, who's obviously too big. I'll take a new picture once a miniature pops up. #miniatures

I managed to get my hands on the advent calendar I mentioned earlier. Really stoked! This is supposed to contain a few miniatures and terrain pieces, in addition to (presumably cardboard) tokens to play little board game. #miniatures #adventcalendar

I still had a Recruit Edition lying around.

Having a lot of trouble doing the fine details with my smallest brush. Maybe I gotta invest in different brushes, maybe I gotta try toothpicks instead.🤔

Also, taking a picture with flash shows all the defects I didn't see IRL.😭 #minipainting #40K

Found this board game. Unfortunately the cover art seems to be the most exciting part of it.

I'm on the hunt for an #adventcalendar. Import duties and shipping fees are making the one I really wanted (Mantic Barroom Brawl) prohibitively expensive.

I'm encountering a lot of weird stuff in my search for an alternative, which I'll be sharing for your enjoyment.

And there he is, all painted up! #minipainting #miniatures

I love how the mini included with @thearmypainter.bsky.social's Wandering Monsters set says it's manufactured in Poland.

This allows me to pretend I choose to buy EU products… even though it's really because in my experience The Army Painter has better and cheaper paints than a certain company. 😂

I guess that next to the global village coffeehouse there's a prank shop?

From Disney Adventures Volume 9 Issue 5 (1999).

Delving into Donald Duck's competitors for ads now.

So, there was a Tom & Jerry magazine in 2001. And it's like… extra lazy. They just didn't color the old logo, left the outline, and slapped a new one on top of it.

Going through old Dutch Donald Duck magazines in search of neat ads.

Apparently kids with asthma had their own magazine in 2001? Looks rad!

Nothing quite suits the vibe of the mid-century modern stone age as 1990s European dance music.

I can't believe they didn't name this "Play-Dolly" or "Play-Dohlly".

Op het oude podium gebeurde dat vaker, veronderstel ik?

In mijn oud fotoalbum heb ik nog deze:

Those fries do seem to match with what I see sold in grocery stores in Belgium as "steakhouse fries".

Though I'm not sure if that's an actual thing in steakhouses, or just some kind of marketing gimmick. 😀

I'm glad that they specified these ghosts are paranormal, and not just normal ghosts.

Finally got a DVD I had been looking for, as my lovely assistant here demonstrates.

Per the back it only has closed captions. Thanks to @techconnectify.bsky.social, I was prepared for this!

Alas, despite checking with other DVDs that my player can decode them, there seem to be none on this disc. 🥲
