Even with a thicker layer of high cloud this evening, it was still worth heading down to Dawlish Seafront to put the drone up and capture a couple of views. The sun never quite slipped beneath the cloud to give that golden glow I was hoping for.

The early light painted the sky with soft colour while the sea sat calm and glassy. It was definitely cold first thing, but mornings like this make it well worth wrapping up and getting out with the camera. Quiet, peaceful, and unmistakably Dawlish.

Just before sunrise by the viaduct in Dawlish, when the town is still asleep, and the sea feels almost glass-smooth.

A calm start to the day on the South Devon coast.

Taken from above the town, the shot lines up perfectly with Teignmouth Pier as the sun rises directly behind it. The golden light reflects straight across the water towards the shoreline, creating that classic, peaceful Teignmouth start to the day.

Teignmouth Spit as the first light of day pours in over the sea. The Larry (Teign mist) drifts along the estuary, catching the warm glow of the rising sun and creating that beautiful mix of light, colour and calm that makes this spot so special.

They’re filling out beautifully now, fluffy feathers turning thicker by the day, and both are looking wonderfully healthy on the Brook. Mum and Dad have them confidently paddling about, even right up near the flowing water, and they handled it like pros.

They’re three weeks old now and really starting to fill out. Proper little chunky fluffballs drifting along together. Still glued to one another as they explore, and always a joy to watch on a cold winter morning.
