Good news. We don’t have to pay Sam Darnold. We will have money to spend and we can focus on JJ McCarthy as the future.

You draft a rookie QB because you have a 5 year window where you don’t have to pay them. It’s genius. You need to have weapons on both sides of the ball. It’s impossible to have 2 huge contracts on 1 side of the ball. I’d rather have a great team overall rather than a power heavy offense, with no D.

I know everyone wants to resign Sam Darnold. We can’t do that unless he takes a 2 year deal at like 15 million a year…we have Gilmore, Murphy, Griffin and Bynum all on 1 year deals. So if you sign Darnold to a huge deal which he could get from another team then we have zero money for defense.
