If #teamidentity in part is agreeing on the story of us, then we need to agree on what beliefs we are both creating and suspending. I found this conversation incredibly thought provoking. #creativityincaptivity #johnkbucher podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/c...

If Marquette just makes half of their no-footer misses as they get into Big East games, things will be much better. Hang in there #mubb fans!

Coaches, yes you need to install the offense and defense and make it look like they know what they are doing by game 1. But invest a little on team identity and watch how fast they play for each other. #tribeprotocol #highperformance #wintersports

Your team is building an identity, whether you are intentional about it or not. When there is SHARED belief, the cliques go away, effort grows, performance soars. #TRIBEprotocol #sharedidentity

Postgame from Sam Coffey. “We were really individual . . . We didn’t play as the incredible team that we are . . . We tried to do it as individuals and that’s not who we are.” #teamidentity #accountability #learnfromtheloss

A team is more than the sum of its talent. It’s who they are and how their play reflects that. www.wsj.com/sports/baseb... #brewers #teamidentity
They Call It ‘Magic Brew’—and It Makes MLB Stars Play Like They’re Completely Hammered
When opposing teams face the Brewers, something weird happens: highly-paid professionals seemingly forget how to throw and catch the ball.

If you only had 3 minutes with your team today, what question would you ask them that would help them understand who WE are and why WE matter? #teamidentity #highperformance

Watched a soccer game last night, in the 1H, I sat with friends in the visitor's section. Refs made nearly every call against them. In the 2H, I sat with the home fans. And the calls were nearly 100% against the home team. Wish these refs would get more consistent. #soccerparentprobs #respectthegame

Win the long game. Give athletes the experience of being on a team they never want to leave. And in the process, watch performance and wellbeing soar. Here is the playbook:

High school aged athletes often have a tough time having the conversations needed to create strong #teamidentity That doesn’t mean we avoid them. Instead, be a role model and teach the skills they need to have powerful conversations. #highperformance

The biggest obstacles to coaches working on #teamidentity with their teams are 1) Self confidence and fear of awkwardness 2) Not believing in return on effort. Solution: model learning and risk taking; be patient. Aligning belief takes diligence and time.

Teams say they want #psychologicalsafety. It doesn’t happen when the boss or a few team leaders declare it so. It happens when there is discussion, agreement, accountability and mistake sharing, for starters. Result of collective behavior, not a meme. #greatteams

Coaches, leaders: How much discomfort are you willing to accept so that others, the team, can grow? How might you be selfish for US?

Players leave teams because they think the grass is greener somewhere else. A good question to ask is, what is the grass like here? What should players and parents expect? What is expected of them – for themselves for the team? What are they part of that matters, beyond winning?#teamidentity

I just finished a video project where I interviewed dozens of players & coaches who were inducted into their high school hall of fame. One through-line: the connection between teammates + clear team identity. If you think that can’t happen in your team, who are you to under-believe?

Diversify your sources of meaning.

If your sport or job is the be-all end-all of your life, you are making yourself fragile.

Any failure becomes an attack on your self-worth & status.

All-in looks good on social media. A robust sense of self works better in real life.
