I asked a similar question. I get it with Earth and temp variations due to relation to the Sun, but what would do it for the sun itself?

So based on the picture (I really don’t know), are the poles “cooler” than the equator? Why? I get why it’s the case for Earth in relation to the sun, but what would cause this for the Sun itself?
