CNY Flooding Update: Canal Corp. is cutting flow out of CS-1 (Cayuga-Seneca Canal Lock) by 740 cubic feet per second due to conditions on Cross Lake. Cross Lake should see an impact by tomorrow, 05/26.

The Canal Corp. has put out a Notice to Mariners regarding the opening of the canal system in phases beginning May 16th due to high water levels. Boaters should proceed at a “no wake” speed given the high water levels and possible debris. See comment below for link to our website with more details.

CNY WATERWAYS STATEMENT ON 05/07/25 FLOODING: The water started rising on about May 1st in order to water-up the canal sections east of us for the start of canal season next week. That brought Cross Lake up close to a foot over normal seasonal levels. (1/3)

We’re headed for a pretty big thaw next week in #centralNY so just a reminder that ice thickness can can vary from water body to water body. 4” inches thick is the bare safe minimum for walking, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and ice skating and there is no such thing as **100%** safe ice.
