Why is FIFA sucking up to Inferior Leader? Is this an annual award? Or is it a 1 time deal? If it is annual, will Inferior Leader be the winner every year? (probably).

So this morning, I collected a stinky from her litter pan & ran it over to the vet. And while I was gone, she found herself a way back under the sofa. 🙄 She's a regular Houdini. I sure hope she outgrows the hiding stuff. But she's a little lovable furball.

I took her last week to our family's vet & got her checked out. Dr. Amy said she was good & healthy, no visible signs of fleas or parasites, said her coat looked really good & her heart sounded good & strong. Nala was pretty scared, so rather than take a poop sample, they had me bring one back.

I'm still shutting her up in the utility room at night. Her food & water bowls are there, plus her litter pan, blankies, & a bed she can hide in (but she's ignoring the bed per cat protocols). This morning I let her out after feeding her & we had a big play session.

I got down in the floor (not easy with 2 bad knees) & looked under the sofa & saw her paw was hung up. I had to get in a position that I could reach her paw & get the claw unhung from the carpet. She was not happy. When she came out after dark, I fed her & petted her up, & engaged her in play.

I rolled up quilts and wrapped them around the base of the sofa, but the little smarty pants figures out ways to get past them. I get concerned she'll get hung up under there & I won't be able to get to her. Well that happened yesterday. She got a claw hung in the carpet. I heard bumps & grumbles.

But all seems to be fine today. When I called her this morning she come trotting out from her hidey hole & went straight to her food dishes. She got lots of pets & neck scratches, praise for her jumping skills, & told how pretty she is. While she was out I put a quilted chair cover in her corner.

I can live with that, & if I need to get to her I can. Between the time I coaxed her out yesterday to the time I went to bed, she ate 2 3.5 oz. cans of Fancy Feast. She ate some dry food during the night & ate another full can this morning. I felt her tummy & she's full as a tick.

I hope you feel better soon.

But so far this morning, she has been very friendly & loving. I may try to bring her in my office room again today. I fixed the cat tree (who knew you could get parts for them on Amazon). My cat that passed away loved to nap on it & look out the windows at the deer & other animals around here.

I seriously got afraid she had gotten herself hung up behind the water heater, & had no idea how I'd get her out of there w/o pulling out the water heater. I fixed my barrier & put it back in place. Her new hiding place is behind my canning rack in the dining room. I can deal with that.

I managed to coax her out yesterday with a little saucer of dry food. Once she got a whiff of the food she came out & went straight to the chest freezer & jumped up. I opened a 3.5 oz can of Fancy Feast & she ate the entire can. I stood there with her the whole time & talked softly to her.

I do feel like I'm being impatient. I've been around cats all my life. I know some will bond instantly with you and some will never bond with you. I'm really afraid Nala won't bond with me, but I keep reminding myself she's only been here 6 days. Thanks for the encouragement & reassurance.

I'm frustrated. It seems like all the progress we made was wiped out just because I needed to wash some clothes. The only thing I know to do is just leave her alone, keep food in her bowls, keep her litter pan scooped, & hope she comes back around.

When I got up this morning, I couldn't find her. I finally decided to look behind the water heater, even though I had put up my "barrier" while I was up at 2:30. There she was. Behind the water heater. No signs of how she figured out how to get past the "barrier". Now she won't come out for me.

About 2:30 am I got up to go to the bathroom. While I was up I went to the utility room to check on her & she was on her blankets on the washer. I petted her, talked to her, and fed her. She had eaten a good bit of dry food & used her litter pan.
November 13, 2025 at 2:10 PM
I begged & pleaded for her to come out from behind the water heater, but she wouldn't. She wouldn't even come out to eat. I gave up for the night after I remembered I had a big box that HVAC filters came in & I broke it down to "try" to make a barrier so she couldn't get behind the water heater.

This morning I cracked the door open and caught that pic of her. After she had her breakfast, & I had mine. I opened the door & left it open. She's ventured out into the kitchen & dining room area, but not any further. We'll see how she progresses through the day.
