The Sonics' arena had a notoriously leaky roof. In 1972 Spencer Haywood slipped on a puddle on the court and hurt his knee. Ruined their playoff chances. A game in 1986 was called off due to a leak. historylink.org/File/7860

3) per capita spending relative to the mean of US states, 4) the size of the state GDP, 5) the amount of wealth in the state, or 6) some other measure of true cost of living. The Seattle Times editorial board leans heavily on option #1. Progressives (and Reykdal in your article) like to use #4.

I'd love to see The Urbanist, or some other local news site, do a deep dive on different ways to assess change in state spending and revenue. Options are to adjust for 1) population growth and inflation as measured by CPI, 2) population growth and median wage, ...

The series on Orwell is terrific, particularly the last episode with Anna Funder.

This is true of concerts in big arenas. There are, however, great musicians on the road half the year playing smallish clubs where tickets are way too cheap. Saw Kelsey Waldon her great band in a small club in Seattle a few weeks ago for $20.

Suspect this longer-term phenomenon of cost of living-- what people consider they need to get by-- increasing more than CPI has something to do with lack of recognition of shorter-term gains in real wages during Biden admin.

Would love to see you address whether CPI adequately captures cost of living over the long term. CPI-adjusted median household income has increases 30 to 40% over the past four decades but there has not been a commensurate decrease in people having trouble paying bills.

The Truth Social tweet was incredibly inappropriate, but is there any evidence he tipped off people privately? If not, is this a distraction? Should we just focus on the huge regressive tax hike and the dangerous stupidity?

Can you lend your comms team to Senatory Cantwell?

You need to do better with your communications. Call tariffs what they are: taxes on consumers.
March 5, 2025 at 4:46 AM
Tariffs are a tax on consumers. Trump is raising taxes on working people. Your communications need to be better.

All for the progressive tax but very nervous about handing the money to an organization with no experience developing housing when we have nonprofit housing developers here with a proven track record.

Use the word "taxes" when referring to these tariffs. They are taxes on consumers.
