I think many of the unfortunate consequences are intentional, sadly... Chaos and distrust of public institutions provides cover for selfish, criminal, "businesses" to operate w/o fear.

When people in office are (probably) guilty of criminal behavior, leverage is easy. And ruthless, self-motivated people (like the current Executive branch) will use that leverage to control then without any hesitation. Adams should resign, but I don't think he has enough honor to do so.

I've been asking when we'll hit the "Have You No Sense of Decency?" moment of the Trump-era descent into disregard for the Constitution for years now. I *hope* it's now, or soon. But every time I thought it was enough in the past, the faithful just pushed past it.
