Will preface this by saying it wasn’t audible inside Old Trafford and I don’t know what noise clips Sky use for their highlights,

Real Madrid facing Atleti is a fascinating tie. Perhaps the only side that can beat Ancelotti’s side over two legs right now.

One of the problems at Manchester United is the only single person who has come close to a Premier League title in recent times is Berrada. So do you just defer everything to him? Amorim hasn’t won the PL so there is an element of risk getting rid of wingers for wing backs? What if it doesn’t work?

Kobbie Mainoo’s contract with #MUFC runs until June 2027 and the club hold an option to extend that for extra year to June 2028. The midfielder isn’t for sale, is seen as vital to United’s future and #CFC will not be able to speak to him until June 2028 due to inter-country rules on Bosman dealings.

It’s always a unique moment in sport where you see someone who is so good, who will dominate for years, and will genuinely rack up multiple World Championships, but until they get the first over the line there is always that question mark.

It’s understood Rashford has turned down three Saudi Pro League club offers

- wants a competitive club/league if he does move
- prepared to knuckle down and fight for place
- United would take loan if involves fee/majority of wage paid

Talking of Hoffenheim, keep an eye out for midfielder Tom Bischof. His contract is up in 2025 and he’s already a super all-round No.8 with a sweet left foot. An outstanding player in the making.

There are those of us who’ve been saying this for five years, but we get told we’re part of a mysterious claret coloured cartel. Combine it with the legitimacy of every season being called into question and you’ve got a dying product in front of your eyes.
Football in 2024 is absolutely incredible. And underwhelming.

Something is missing - I think it's variety.

Is English football all starting to look the same?

Managers and SDs have been in touch to say that know exactly what I'm talking about...

People will get bogged down with the Southgate thing, but it's a myth. Ashworth was involved in the hiring of Amorim but felt strongly about future problems as a result. It may well work out that he has left too soon. #MUFC

Understand that Ashworth wasn't forced out over his desire to bring in an English coach, rather the point of contention was how his future work would be impacted by the arrival of a coach married to a particular system, in this case, Amorim and 3-4-3. #MUFC

A fairly basic requisite for a football team but you can't drive a bus through United any more - and that isn't, well, from parking the bus. They're very well structured. Constantly closing off gaps.

Arsenal would much rather win corners than free-kicks on the edge of the box and Manchester United never really seemed to work that out.
December 4, 2024 at 10:04 PM
Manchester United actually defended really solidly in open play. No glaring gaps through the middle, although it’s not clear whether Arsenal were actually intentionally playing for corners. Don’t think much would have surprised Amorim tonight.

Something slightly ironic about the fact there is actually real martial law somewhere in the world and Alex Jones is without a platform to bang on about it.

On the other hand, Everton looked dead today. Not an ounce of creativity in the team, and somehow a Sean Dyche team were making huge errors trying to play out from the back. As a club, Everton can’t afford relegation this season, they just can’t #Everton

Manchester United got a really eye-catching win today. Didn’t actually start that well, seemed panicked and confused once again. However, what was impressive is they didn’t succumb to the confusion. They just passed the ball around and kept it, didn’t risk anything until the fog cleared #MUFC

Mbappe’s sulking tonight would have impressed even Nicolas Anelka.
November 27, 2024 at 9:40 PM
A small update, this wasn’t actually accurate as I misheard/misunderstood. Amorim was actually suggesting that having problems is good, because if you don’t learn how to deal with them, he guarantees the results will be the same in a year.
Ruben Amorim, "We will have problems, the players will be confused sometimes, but by this time next year, I promise you we won't have the same struggles." #MUFC
November 25, 2024 at 12:08 AM
Ruben Amorim," I have done so much media this week, I just want to work with my players. I've spoken more this week than I did in four weeks at Sporting."
November 24, 2024 at 6:51 PM
Ruben Amorim, "When you are confused, you stay where you are, then you don't run too much."
November 24, 2024 at 6:50 PM
Ruben Amorim, "If you see the first-half, we were a little bit afraid, their number 5 was always alone and we should have jumped on him. Hutchinson, Jonny Evans should have pressed that guy, but we have only had three days. The players were a little bit confused."
