Sometimes expressing opinions, but mostly learning from other people's wisdom.
They are begging to have their heads chopped off, sounds to me like. How disconnected can they be not to see how hated they are, and that, if the violence properly kicks off, it will be them against the wall in short order! Proper FAFO case with nice purgatory consequences.

In all these ridiculous situations, it would be great if trans men turned up in large numbers! I know it’s not their identity and they don’t want to be in that space, so it’s a lot to ask, but it might really help the cause by highlighting the absurdity of the situation!

This is getting ridiculous. Who wants this? And how exactly are they going to enforce it? Even if trans women decide that they don’t want to be there because they are not wanted, which would be sad enough, are butch cis women also going to stay away to avoid the humiliation?

Point well made, but unfortunately yes, he will.

… elective dictatorship, where a PM with one vote majority in Parliament can abolish our rights and democracy. If that was taken away, then the danger of Reform would be much more contained!

Re trial by jury, it’s better to have timely justice than the right to trial by jury for fly-tipping. It’s staying for serious crimes.

The real danger is the refusal to reform the political system and increase the accountability throughout (politics, media, business). And keeping it all an …

These things are not all the same.

More democratic countries than the UK have ID cards, and much less as well. ID cards are neutral on the front of democracy and human rights. They are just a convenient way of proving identity, which is currently insanely complex and intrusive in this country.

A good start would be demanding commitment to holding people to account and enforcing laws on corruption etc at the primaries. Any incumbent who doesn’t commit to that should be primaries with great vigour by someone running on accountable democracy as primary objective.

Just because you are a sane observer of an insane world doesn’t mean *you* are the one losing your mind. Brilliant writing.

Consistency is so old-fashioned. Grift for Farage, faux-nationalist fodder for the masses is much more now!

absolutely fine to take mechanically recovered abattoir floor sweepings, munge them together with soya based bulking agents, stick it together with some sort of glue made of eyelids and call it a burger or a sausage, just as long as something died in the process.

Honestly, people should rediscover the virtue of getting the fuck out of the way and retiring!

I think they think Trump is that stupid. And they’re right!
December 3, 2025 at 10:26 AM
These guys are so full of shit. First of all, there is no way these current AIs are getting anywhere near AGI. Second of all, just because you can do something stupid, it doesn’t mean you should do it, nor should the society let them. This is Darwin awards territory!

Yes. Autonomous is a time-sensitive attribute. You are autonomous only while you are alive (within reason, don’t want to get all sidetracked here).

Or, indeed, murder, as others have rightly pointed out!

It’s on him, but also on the others. “Just following orders” is not a valid excuse to commit war crimes.

And, also, that he’s a solicitor. Solicitors are not exactly a radical lot, especially the ones that climb all the way to the top. His instinctive caution will contribute to the failure of his government.

… too much to his boy-idiot and his gang. He was never a particular visionary, so it was always going to be somebody else’s vision. We were unlucky that it’s not only Blue Labour, but a particularly malignant and shortsighted strain that got to him, and that his political instincts are so poor.

I think there was an ambition once. Tom Baldwin would have to be an amazing actor and liar for that not to be the case, and I heard other interviews as well that painted an unrecognisable picture of Starmer.

Starmer probably got overwhelmed by the whole enormity of the task, and delegated …

Sure. But this goes completely against what he was elected to do. The whole point was to change the country, not manage its decline!
December 2, 2025 at 12:25 PM
😂
December 2, 2025 at 12:24 PM
You seem to have missed this response, but generally I agree that the drama is OTT. But Starmer is the cause of his own misfortune, in the party and broader, because he seems to want to do little, and, even when he does some good, avoid talking about it! Mind-boggling!

Against the MPs getting rid of him.

The press is a lost cause, he never seems to have had an intention of fighting them properly, although, in his own inimitable style, he seems to be shocked how badly they've been treating him despite him folding in advance. Bless...
